Labeling Unnamed Items ​

What this guide covers ​

Going from a box full of unnamed items (Processed: 0%) to fully labeled and named items.

Prerequisites ​

  • At least one box with uploaded photos (items exist but have no names)
  • You can read the Processed column on the Box Management page to find which boxes need work

Finding boxes that need labeling ​

Go to Boxes. Look at the Processed column. Any box below 100% has unnamed items:

  • 🔴 Red (< 40%) — most items unnamed
  • 🟡 Amber (40–80%) — partially done
  • 🟢 Green (≥ 80%) — nearly or fully done

Boxes at 100% Processed have all items named and do not show the Name Unnamed Items button.

Opening the labeling view ​

Click Name Unnamed Items on a box row. This opens /label-item/:boxId/ — a focused page that shows only the items in that box that still need names. The page displays each item as a card with its photo.

Naming items inline ​

Click the item's name field directly on the card. A text input appears. Type the name and press Enter or click away to save. The item is updated immediately without navigating away.

Opening the full item editor ​

Click the edit icon (pencil) on a card to open /edit-item/:id/ with the full item detail form. This is useful when you want to fill in description, costs, serial numbers, or adjust the photo at the same time as naming.

Working through a box ​

Work card by card. As each item gets a name, the Processed count for the box increments. You can reload the page or navigate back to Boxes at any time; named items no longer appear in the labeling view when you return.

Uploading photos from the labeling view ​

If an item has no photo yet, you can upload one directly from the item editor (open via the edit icon). See Uploading Photos.

Troubleshooting ​

I named all items but the box still shows < 100% Processed Reload the page. The Processed percentage is computed at page load. If you still see unnamed items, open the labeling view again — there may be items you missed.

The item name won't save inline Try pressing Enter explicitly after typing. If the save still fails, open the full editor via the edit icon.

Name Unnamed Items button is missing The box is already 100% Processed — all items have names.
