Glossary
Box A physical or logical container identified by a Box ID. Boxes can be nested inside other boxes (see Parent Box). Each box can hold items and child boxes.
Box ID A unique string (up to 50 characters) that identifies a physical box. Box IDs are printed on QR labels and scanned by the mobile workflows. Example: GARAGE-01, B0042. You assign the Box ID when creating the box; it cannot be changed after creation.
Box Name An optional human-readable label for a box (e.g. "Christmas Decorations"). Displayed instead of the Box ID when Display Name is toggled on. Names do not need to be unique.
Child Box A box nested inside another box via the Parent Box field. Child boxes appear indented in the Box Management grid. Counts of child boxes propagate up through the hierarchy.
Cropped Photo A tightly framed version of an item photo created by the crop editor. Stored separately from the original. The original is always preserved; clearing the crop reverts to the original.
Display Name A per-box toggle. When on, the box's human-readable Name is shown in the UI and on labels. When off, the Box ID is shown.
Item An individual physical object stored in a box. Items carry metadata (name, description, costs, dimensions, serial number, etc.) and can have multiple photos.
Item Transfer The record linking a specific item to a Transfer Template, with a status (pending, in_progress, completed, cancelled).
Key Photo The photo marked as the primary thumbnail for an item (isKey = true). Shown on item cards. If no photo is marked as key, the first uploaded photo is used.
Named Item An item whose Name field is not empty. The Processed percentage on Box Management counts named items divided by total items.
Owner An inventory entity that items and boxes can be attributed to. Linked 1:1 with a User account (link is optional on both sides). Multiple items can share one owner.
Pan/Zoom A non-destructive photo framing adjustment. Instead of saving a new cropped image, it stores an X/Y offset percentage and a zoom scale that controls how the original photo is displayed in the item card thumbnail. Drag the photo on the card to reposition.
Parent Box The box that contains another box. Setting a parent creates a hierarchy. Deleting a parent box cascades to delete all its children.
Processed Per-box percentage: (named items) / (total items) × 100. Displayed as a colored progress indicator on the Box Management page (red below 40%, amber 40–80%, green 80%+).
Superuser A user account with full system access, including the Admin page, user creation/deletion, and owner deletion. The first registered user is automatically a superuser.
Transfer Template A named container for a bulk item transfer. Defines the destination box and new owner. Items are assigned to a template and the template can be marked active or complete. A PDF report can be generated from the template.
User A login account. Separate from Owner — a user can exist without an owner record, and vice versa. Users have one of three roles: superuser, staff, or regular user.
